Once again, congratulations to all the riders who won prizes, I do try to spread the prize-money around and not make much profit from the event. Times are generally faster this year on the different course, but Richard Bradley's Event Record of 20:22 still stands from '04, and Michelle Brown & Darren Willets' time of 20:45 from '05 is also safe for another year. I tried a different approach to the field-setting for the Start list by putting all the senior (60+) Vets off in the first half, and kept the Women together in this grouping. All you younger Men were made to go off later, this avoided the scenario I have witnessed in some other events where the last Number 9 (usually a very senior rider) is passed by the Scratch-man within a mile of the Start and gets a very lonely ride. This way, the marshals didn't have to wait for ages. OK, I know this is only a Ten, but the principal is there all the same. I hope the competition was keener, I would value your comments.

Thanks to all the helpers who rushed to my aid, they were Mick Ford, Chief Marshal and flag-monitor, Chris Nichols and Tony Williams pushing off, Tim Cadd and Martyn Pavier at the Garden Centre trouble-spot, Pete Ellis, Bob Lane and Ian Lole on the Fosse Way Island turn, Lloyd Storey and Mark Gibbons at the Thurlaston Island turn. The other Mr & Mrs Walker, newly-weds Adam and Isla collected numbers and phoned the results to Chris and myself at the HQ. Timekeepers Bob and Peter were assisted by our expert Recorder, Simone. Liz Burridge and Louise Pavier kept you all fed and watered. And when you'd all gone home, Phil Burridge donned his apron and hoovered the hall before we vacated the premises (I have a photo of this event, Liz!)
