Norman Sargisson (Sarge)

Norm Sargisson time trialling on the Warwick bypass in the 80s

Born 1922, has been a LC&AC member since 1939. Cycling in the shadow of all the club's stars of the 1930s was not without its challenges. The breathless and exhausted Sarge remembers Fred Dale brandishing a stick at him during a time trial and shouting "you're not trying hard enough!"

Sarge was one of the club's fast men in the fifties and finished second in the Coventry CCA 50 with a time of 2:15:16. Along with Jock White and Ken Doughty he was a member of the Leamington team who took the Coventry CCA team prize in 1951. He was 22nd in the BBAR in 1944 with an average time of 22.686 mph over 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours.
